GENERAL AND PRICING POLICIES

Please note that our standard prices are subject to terms and limitations as set out below. If your requirements extend beyond these limitations than we can provide an individually designed quote specific to you and your needs.

Limitations

Text pages are limited to a maximum of 800 words per page. Links pages are limited to a maximum of 20 hyperlinks per page. Product pages are limited to a maximum of 20 products & 20 product images per page. General photographs and/or graphics (excluding product images) are limited to a maximum of 5 per page. Within the standard pricing structure for non and e-commerce sites client provided photographs and graphics are resized and web readied (ie lightened or sharpened), however, if modification is required (ie removal of background etc) then a charge of $5 per image will be incurred.

Payment

Payment is a 50% deposit at the beginning and the remaining 50% when the site is loaded to your server. Internet Engineering's prefered payment method is direct deposit, however cheques (made out to Internet Engineering) are also fine. We also accept Paypal. An invoice/receipt with our ABN number etc for your taxation purposes is provided.

What we will need from you in order to design your site

The full text and image content (including products, prices and any products codes etc) to be provided with text in a rich text format and images as JPEGs or GIFs. This must be a final copy rather than a draft and is to be provided at the same time as the 50% deposit. The password, logins, ftp name server addresses etc of your account where the site is to be hosted is also needed. We may also need the login, password and domain reseller's name should we need to move your domain name from where it is currently parked. None of this information is retained on a computer which has internet access for security purposes.

What happens after I accept the quote?

When we receive the answers from the web design request form, and once the quote has been accepted and the 50% deposit paid (and cleared where necessary), we will prepare three page styles for you to look at. You can then choose which one or a mix of all three that you like the best and we will design the site using this layout. Once the layout style has been determined and becomes the final look of the site, we then commence constructing your site. We will make available on our own test server the pages for you to view throughout the process. We will be in touch with you at least once every 72 hours to update you on the progress. When we have completed the site we ask that you review it over a maximum 5 day period. Then at this time we make any necessary adjustments to content only (the site layout already having been determined at the earlier stage). When that is completed the site is then loaded to your own host and search engine submissions made. The final 50% becomes payable at this time.

Time frame

Sites are usually completed within two to three weeks of receiving the go ahead from yourself and the 50% deposit. Of course this depends on yourself as well and if we need to extend that time than we can. There may be peak times where this time frame is extended to four to seven weeks due to our own work commitments. But we will let you know before any agreement is reached.

Cancellation and the deposit

If a cancellation is made within 48 hours of the deposit being paid then 50% of the deposit is refunded (ie 25% of the total quoted amount). After that point the deposit becomes non-refundable. This is because as soon as we receive the go ahead, and the deposit, we start to do the work and will require payment for the time expended. Please note that no graphics or code is handed over on cancellation.

Intellectual property

The content of the website is your intellectual property. We will include a meta tag and disclaimer on each page stating this as well. If you have any requirements in how people use the content of your site than we can include that in the copyright statement as well. Any code or images that I create remain the intellectual property of Internet Engineering. We include within the code a meta tag with this disclaimer. We also include in font size 1 at the base of each page the comment that the website was designed by Internet Engineering with a link to our own website. We request that this comment remain unless the site is changed considerably from our initial design. However, if elements of our design remain (such as graphics) then we request that the comments at the bottom of the page reflect that. No code or images that we create can be sold or passed on to others without our express written consent.

Seach engine optimisation and submission

We are not search engine specialists. Although, as a part of the package cost we can include meta, title and alt tags to based on information and keywords that you provide to us. But as we are not marketing or search engine specialists we cannot make any guarantee of placement nor do we accept liability if your site does not place well in the search engines.

We also, as a part of the package cost, submit your site to the main free search engines such as Google. Please be aware that your site may not be indexed for up to six months depending on the search engine (Google usually indexes somewhere within 35 days).

Disclaimer: Please also note that whilst every endeavour is made to ensure that your site is as optimised as possible, we cannot guarantee placement results as search results are dependent upon external influences as well as keywords etc. For example an external influence on search engine results is commonality of your major keywords. If your site is called "Organic Body Care" then a search result on those keywords will return an enormous result (on 20/03/2005 it returned 4,050,000 results), so the competition to get top or first page ranking is huge. Where possible it is good to use less generic terms as your major identifiers (ie business name or description). An additional method to improve search engine results is to to be linked back by other popular sites - link exchanges are one way of doing this. The more popular sites that link back to you the better your own listing results are. So it is possible to improve your websites results with a little time and effort. If you would like additional information on how to improve search engine ranking, we are happy to provide some websites for you to peruse. But again we cannot make any claims or accept any liabilities.
